18 should be the value of x to make the equation true.

2x - 30 = 6

2x = 6 + 30
2x = 36
2x/2 = 36/2
x = 18

to check:
2x - 30 = 6
2(18) - 30 = 6
36 - 30 = 6
6 = 6
