First, we use the area formula for a circle

[tex]A=\pi(r)^2[/tex]

Where r = 2.5 m because it's half the diameter.

[tex]A=\pi(2.5m)^2=\pi(6.25m^2)[/tex]

Then, we use pi = 3.14 and divide by two because they are asking for the semi-circle (half).

[tex]A_{\text{semi}}=\frac{3.14(6.25)}{2}m^2\approx9.8m^2[/tex]

Hence, the area of the semi-circular shape is 9.8 square meters.
