All Religons Were ToleratedIt was Napoleon's policy to tolerate all religions. Napoleon recognized that most of the people of France were Catholic, but the French government paid the salaries of the Protestant as well as the Catholic clergy. He allowed the Catholic Church to run schools for the training of its clergy.
