Without having the sentence here, I can only help you to find the answer.  Linking verbs are NOT action (like run, walk, think, buy).  Linking verbs LINK the subject to the information in the predicate.  It tells us what the subject is like or where it is.  Linking verbs are: is, are, was, were, am, be (and can sometimes be) seem and appear.  They can be paired with action verbs that end in -ed or -ing.  For example: Suzy is tired.  'Is' is the linking verb.
