The complex of protein and rna that carries out rna splicing is called a spliceosome.

The DNA transcription leads to the synthesis of precursor RNA polymer. This precursor RNA polymer has both the gene introns and the exons. The introns are the non-coding regions present within the gene and the RNA. The removal of introns from the precursor RNA polymer to make mRNA is done by the process of splicing.
